Greetings from Garfield, San Leandro’s unique
elementary school on the Marina. We are proud to offer a year round
schedule and partnership with DataWorks educational researchers and The Center for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning.
Our experienced staff provides a rigorous curriculum, with ongoing
assessments and opportunities for student support through classroom
and after school intervention programs. We are in the third year
of our Program Improvement Action Plan and proud of the progress our students have made. Through QEIA (Quality Education Investment Act) grant funds, Garfield is the only school in the District with class size reduction in grades 4 and 5. Our parent groups are active
and provide fieldtrips, assemblies, materials, school wide events
and activities to all. We also received an after school program grant,
which will extend student learning and enrichment beyond the regular
school day.
