We are a school that is working very hard to implement programs that
have had proven success at other schools like ours around the state.
We are now using the Houghton-Mifflin Reading Program in every classroom
so that all students will receive consistent, systematic instruction
in reading. Also, we are using "Board Math," a proven method for
reviewing and introducing math standards. Finally, an exciting program
called "Avenues" is being used with the 380 students at
our school who are learning English. We are very excited that all
of these programs—along with the strong commitment of our staff, teachers
and parents—has resulted in a 55 point API gain over the last
two years.
