I have been practicing and teaching Health and fitness for my entire adult life- first, as a Fitness Director and guiding various adventures as an Outdoor Recreation Guide. I have lead an adventurous life and have many tales of fun and resiliency. I then transitioned to teaching Health and P.E. in private schools for two decades, including in the International American Schools (Lima, Peru, Warsaw, Poland), then to Public schools in the bay area where I have taught mostly high school Health and some P.E. every grade, from K-12.
I am in my third year at SLHS, and my 29th year of teaching. I love my job! I am passionate about teaching Health to young people so they can learn how to make the best choices for their health, and learn to be an advocate for self and others to thrive and enjoy life fully. For fun, I love to be in nature keeping fit! I mountain bike, hike, kayak, do yoga, and am a certified Health and Fitness Coach. I make my own kombucha, kraut, and prepare many plant-based concoctions. Your students will partake in my infamous green smoothies (which I have been sipping and swishing for decades) during the nutrition unit, and discover how much they LOVE veggies and fruit!
*I use Google Classroom to post all assignments and daily lessons and slides for absent students, and for parents to follow along with what we are doing in class if they are interested.
