    Principal’s Message

Dear McKinley Families we’re grateful for all you’ve done to help build healthier lives and happy hearts. I’m proud to announce that our school community raised $1105.00 for the American Heart Association. During our March, Wednesday morning message (weather permitting) we will have our culminating activity. Please come out and join us.

Multicultural Family Night/Lunar New Year Parade

Thank you to all who made these two events possible. Both of these events gave us an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our diverse McKinley culture.

    Scholastic Book Fair is Coming

During the week of March 18th, PTO and McKinley School will host a book fair in the library. Book fairs give children a motivation to read by offering them a selection of books to choose from that they can look at before they decide to buy. They help raise money for our school. They give parents and kids an opportunity to pick out and read books together.  So please join us in our effort to raise readers and consider volunteering and participating in our upcoming book fair. Please stay tuned on how you can get involved.

    One Ingredient Snack Challenge

Congratulations to Ms. Joffroy’s class for winning the one ingredient snack challenge. In an effort to provide students with the healthiest environment we can, we are encouraging you to provide only healthy snacks for school snacks. Children need healthy snacks to help them grow and stay healthy. Snacking isn’t bad for kids, but what they snack on is important. If you give your child healthy snacks now, he or she will learn to make healthy food choices in the future. We are looking forward to making our school the healthiest it can be so our students can do their best work.

    5th Grade Residency Verification

All 5th grade parents must complete a new Residence Verification Form before entering 6th grade. This is mandatory for ALL 5th graders. Residency verification will be held the weeks of April 1-12 from 8am - 3pm at the McKinley office.

    Art Is Education

Show your support for the arts and young artists from the San Leandro Unified School District. Art is Education Month Reception: March 12, 2019 from 6:30 - 7:45 pm at the San Leandro Main Library. Keynote address will be held in the children’s library at 7:00 pm with McKinley’s own David Patusco as speaker.

    Drake’s Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and attended our Drake’s fundraiser. PTO collected $1,145.00 in donations at the door.

    MoMo Challenge

Parents please be aware and very cautious of what your child watches on YouTube and KIDS YOUTUBE. There is a thing called ‘Momo’ that’s instructing kids to kill themselves, turn stoves on while everyone is sleep and even threatening to kill the children if they tell their parents,”

  • Seeking Volunteers for TK & Kindergarten Classrooms

If you are interested in working in either transitional kindergarten or kindergarten classrooms, our elementary schools are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers! Our schools especially need support for 30-60 minutes at a time in the classroom, during recess, and during lunch.
