Welcome Back SLUSD Students, Families and Staff!

Welcome to another exciting year of learning, connecting and achieving in the San Leandro Unified School District. As a community, we are focused on building a “Culture of Excellence” as detailed in our three-year Strategic Action Plan. With year one complete, we are proud of our many accomplishments including receiving the distinguished AP District of the Year Award from the College Board, expanding opportunities for early bilingual education and infusing socio-emotional learning in our classrooms. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students, both academically and socially, to be life-long learners, effective communicators and responsible and involved citizens.

Reporter Bob Redell and team came to hear more about the Advanced Placement District of the Year award that was presented to San Leandro district administrators and teachers this summer in Houston, TX. The Richardsons used the opportunity to showcase the newly remodeled broadcasting studio as an example of the district’s commitment to increasing access and equity not only in advanced academic programming but also in real-world work opportunities through the many career pathway options at SLHS.

EBMUD Verifies Safe Drinking Water in San Leandro Unified Schools

Last January, San Leandro Unified School District took advantage of a free state testing program to have all of their schools’ drinking water tested for lead. This move was a proactive response to State Assembly Bill 746, which went into effect January 1, 2018, requiring all public schools in California to have their water tested for the presence of lead. None of the school sites within the district exceeded the federal standard of 15 parts per billion.
